Today we went on a trailride at a friend's ranch right outside of Mason. I had not been riding since last fall and it certainly did show. 

When I go on trailrides we walk the horses, that was not my friend's idea today. She had galloping and  trotting in mind. Going up the hills in a gallop was a little more than this old body could handle. Thank goodness Monti, the horse I was on, was in better shape than I am. She is named Monti because she was born the year that Monty the Horse whisperer became famous.

The weather was wonderfully warm but a little windy. 

Many of the ranches in this area have gone to raising exotic animals so their ranches can be profitable. There were many exotic deer and antelope on this ranch. I am amazed at how beautiful and healthy they are.

I will be awhile before I get back on horseback because my bones are really feeling the pain. But it sure was worth going through.
